First and the most important, I am starting this thread solely to achieve the few first OP of English corner.

Well, we will start easy, how do you learn your English to achieve current level?

Is it by movie? Or a mere glimpse of handsome teacher at nearby English course that captivates your heart? Well, whatever... one say "If we are hunting the same game [handsome, rich, and caring boyfriend] we will meet at the end of the road."

Starts to see something from the last idiom? Are you confused about the use of word "game"?

Shares your own experience: how do you start your English? And wait for the next English class to improve my English... and also yours.

(Games: for you grammar nazi, I command you to look for grammar mistakes in this post! And hopefully we could learn together or even date together? :* )

How do I learn english?

Well, it had happened when I got a red mark on my report! And that was English, and I got the second on the next grade, too!

Luckily I love to read and am a perfectionist. I worked my papers perfectly, eventhough I had to read english journals. I believe that is how I learn english.

Well, well, games are very helpful also. XD

is there anyone who attends EF?
I tried once, the placement test, but the fee was way too expensive for me.

New and cool sub-forum, eh? Finally.

First of all, How do you learn english means a question which is asking someone how he/she learns english in this present moment. And I strongly believe that your question should be "how did you start learning English?" in your post. And you should replace the "command" word with "ask" or "I would like you to look for my grammar errors".

And.. Safire, are you really a perfectionist? A mild one or an acute one? Because you missed the spelling "eventhough", the correct one is "even though". I myself is a perfectionist, too.

@nvm: I love reading a lot, any kind of writing, you can say. But I don't know the two persons you've mentioned -_- . I love to read Magic the gathering and WoW, too.

@Longgur: well, yeah, EF is very expensive. I never try it, but sometime some cram schools give free trial. And you don't have to pay even a penny for the trial. Unless, you can't use the result for your visa, graduation, etc.

Ps: a little bit wrong is cincay laa •ˆ▽ˆ•Wªªkªªkªªkªªkªª •ˆ▽ˆ•

Nice a cool grammar nazi pops in :') at least we could find a grammar teacher here... a strict and perfectionist one.

I found EF's is not too useful for academic purposes, since honing your English from journal material will drive you further than course. [And I found that those materials stitched into your brain from course does not correlate with how well you'll tackle the real life language barrier problem or even your test result]

@safire: they are the author of Dracula and 3 Musketeer respectively

@Aslan: yeah, I know that. I'm kind of perfectionist but, not that strict •ˆ▽ˆ•Wªªkªªkªªkªªkªª •ˆ▽ˆ•. I know that we have to write it as "even though", but I just love to write it as "eventhough". The same thing for "tat" (except of "that"), and soon. But if you find me do any error again, keep on your mind that I speak singlish •ˆ▽ˆ•Wªªkªªkªªkªªkªª •ˆ▽ˆ•

nothing special about learning my english.
i just learn it through game, especially RPG games who have a lot of dialogues.
my motto is, "if i don't know the story line of that game, what's the purpose i played it through finish?"
i mean, in each game we've played at least we must know the story or the plot line so we can finished it good enough.

Should have been Start, and Share, without the 's'. you challenged a grammar nazi and i accept your challenge :tertawa:

I learn mine from game, was a huge lover of game and wanted to know the storyline of the game itself.
And so... every time i found a word i didn't know its meaning, i looked for it in the dictionary.

IMO, You don't need to follow courses to learn english, but they helped a lot.
What is most important for language learning is to practice and practice, the more practice you do, the more fluent you become :)

@KL: who dare to say that games are useless, eh? We learn english from games, and we speak english better than they who doesn't like to play games.

I just can't hold my urge... to agree with safire's

Sometimes, I found that those who learn English solely from textbook and courses became dull in intonation, deliveries, and depth. Yes they are perfect, but the perfect diamond is the one which cracks [White Collar].

*whats the point of dating all perfect boy? Its their negative side that keeps us running*
